The park

July 30. On the bus on the way to (永康街)… 

Eat ‘Niew Ro Mien’ (牛肉麵) or beef noodles and another kind of noodles (炸醬麵).

 

After that we went to a park. Claire liked this horse

She LOVED the slide made out of stone. I think Aunt Jean was so worried she would hurt herself but I knew Claire could handle a slide!!

Abba, do you know this place? It is the Ice Monster, we didn’t eat but have to go back to have that.

She loved the corn soup and some parts of the salad~

She was so tired she went to sleep on the floor, nothing could wake her up.

That night we went to meet Uncle Arthur, but it was late and he had another date… so we ended up at

Sh Lin Night Market~!!!!! 

Claire had noodles (炒米麵) and Aunt Jean & Mommy had egg (蚵仔煎) with some sauce 

We also had ‘Chio Dofu’ or Stinky tofu (臭豆腐)~

July 29. We finally met. Claire is with Uncle Sam & Aunt Vicky.

July 26. Aunt Jean & Claire at Sin Gong Department Store, they have this HUGE panda in the main lobby

 Our lunch, this place is famous for these dishes (東一排骨飯).

We also had Niew Ro Mien (牛肉麵)

 These were the big fish in the middle of the restaurant. Next time I should get a table next to them so she will eat happily.

Then Aunt Jean took us to her office, she works at Taipei101 on the 45th floor~!!!! What a nice view. 

The light tan roofed building is the Sun Yan Set Memorial Hall that we went to the other day.

July 24. Claire before she got her bath~

We went out to eat lunch…

We found bbq chicken, tofu, rice and vegetables. Claire loved this one.

We stayed in HsinChu for 1 night with Aunt Jean.

Our dinner (柳家魯肉飯、貢丸湯、炒米粉、油豆腐), it was a kind of night market (新竹城煌廟) next to a temple, very famous in HsinChu.

July 25. On our way to ShinPu, GG’s hometown

This is the clock that Claire’s Great-Grandpa designed. It is in front of ShinPu Elementary School.

 To get to the family site, you have to turn up this road…

 That is where the Catholic Church is.

 

 Then you will see bamboo, and you turn right. It is back here to the right up the hill.

Claire liked the dragon that was on there. I offered Claire to the ancestors, I know they were VERY happy to accept her as their gift!

Then after fulfilling the family duties, we had to satisfy our stomachs (乾粄條、湯粄條)! 

This is the menu of the restaurant next to GG’s old house, still the best in ShinPu. There were so many people here.

 July 22. Just hanging out

 Claire stole Aunt Jean’s drink (清心福全), I think she likes the straw!

 July 23. We went to Taipei 101 to meet Aunt Jean for lunch. We had corn soup (玉米濃湯), dumplings (上海湯包), another kind of noodle soup (油豆腐細粉) and a wrap (牛肉餡餅). Maybe Aunt Jean can give me the names~! But Claire loved it.

While walking around the lake here Claire found a duck. An old lady was feeding the duck and Claire had so much fun watching. The old lady would day something to the duck, the duck quacked and Claire laughed so much.

 She had to get a better view.

 This memorial hall is so close to Taipei 101, I took the MRT (subway) but next time will just walk. I ended up walking even more than I had to!!

 After meeting Jean we went to another MRT stop. They had this tree in front of the station and Claire loved the flashing lights so we took a picture.

 We ate breakfast for dinner, I love this place~! Taiwanese breakfast (飯團、燒餅油條、蘿蔔糕、豆漿、蛋餅) is the best.

 Claire loved this one (燒餅油條).

 We had lunch at a Japanese restaurant (梅村), it was one of Apoh’s favorite places. YUMMY

Mommy’s meal. I also had eel (鰻魚套餐). 

 Claire had Wu Dong (烏龍麵).

One of the many gifts Aunt Jean gave Claire, these are ING pencils so she can learn Chinese~!
